Star Wars Eclipse is a narrative-driven action-adventure game from Quantic Dream.
The title is still in the early stages of development, but we know that the game will focus on a team of characters and will be set in the era of the High Republic in the Star Wars universe. If Eclipse is something like the previous Quantic title, Detroit: Be Humana fascinating, multi-faceted story full of moral ambiguities and difficult player choices awaits us.
We had no official word on this Eclipseit seems likely that the game will be available on at least PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC, given that Quantic Dream’s exclusivity deal with Sony expires. Although little is known about it Star Wars Eclipse, we did our best to track down every morsel of information we could gather. Read on to find out more.

Star Wars Eclipse release date and platforms
Unfortunately, Quantic Dream seems a bit early for development Star Wars Eclipse provide a specific release date. If development is still in its early stages, we think we probably won’t see Star Wars: Eclipse on store shelves for a long time.
Shortly after the game was announced, industry insider Tom Henderson tweeted to say (opens in a new tab) that expects the game to be at least in about 3 to 4 years. However, in March 2022 went to report (opens in a new tab) that there may have been an internal delay and that we may be looking at a 2027-2028 release window.
speak to GameRadar (opens in a new tab) of the delay rumors, Quantic Dream said “Star Wars Eclipse was not delayed because Quantic Dream never announced or promised a release window for the title.” Without a publicly announced release window or date given by Quantic Dream, it’s hard to say if Star Wars Eclipse has been delayed internally or when we get our hands on it. A few years seems like a safe bet.
Platforms haven’t been confirmed yet either, but we expect Star Wars Eclipse to land on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC at least. Considering how far away it is, there’s virtually no chance it’ll make it to last-gen consoles like PS4 and Xbox One.
Star Wars Eclipse trailers
Latest trailer
After rumors of its existence, Quantic Dream finally broke the Star Wars silence with an impressive CGI trailer debuting at The Game Awards 2021. Although we still can’t talk about the game Star Wars Eclipse will eventually work out, it looks like we’ll be hanging out and (playing) a diverse roster of characters.
The trailer features everything you’d expect from Star Wars, including space battles, sinister-looking soldiers, and a gorgeous sci-fi cityscape that closely resembles Courascant, the capital of the Republic.

The history and setting of Star Wars Eclipse
Star Wars Eclipse is set to be the first game “set in the uncharted region of the Outer Rim during the era of the High Republic known as the Golden Age of the Jedi,” reads Quantic Dream’s press release. The era of the High Republic takes place hundreds of years before the Skywalker saga, when the Galactic Republic was supposed to be at its peak.
We currently don’t know exactly how Quantic Dream plans to explore this lesser-known aspect of the Star Wars universe. However, we do know that we will be taking control of multiple characters throughout the story, as is usually the case in Quantic Dream games.
Given the developer, expect to see several branching paths play out in the narrative depending on your choices. This will likely change the story dramatically, including what the final ending will look like.
News from Star Wars Eclipse
Read on for all the latest development news and rumors Star Wars Eclipse. Official news is scarce at the moment, but we’ll try to update this section as we learn more about Quantic Dream’s ambitious project.
Eclipse retains the basics of previous Quantic Dream games
Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondaumière stated that Star Wars Eclipse will not be too different from its previous games. In a recent interview with IGN Japan, he confirmed:
“I think with every new title we try to innovate, we try to explore new territory. In Star Wars Eclipse, we will certainly keep the core elements of Quantic Dream; a very strong story, very strong characters, many playable characters and of course giving players the ability to change, through their actions and decisions, the way the story unfolds.
Developers deny rumors about the delay
Quantic Dream, the studio behind it Star Wars Eclipserecently debunked reports of the game being delayed.
in March 2022 Xfire’s (opens in a new tab) Tom Henderson released a report stating that the game he initially estimated to be 3 to 4 years old could arrive in the 2027-2028 release window after an internal delay. Henderson said in the report that the studio is trying to attract talented developers to help develop the game, pointing to repeated job postings.
In a press release published in the same month (via VGC (opens in a new tab)), however, Quantic Dream stated that it “cheerfully continues the clear development of its three own productions. Now that the pre-production and prototyping phases have been completed, 2022 will mark a new milestone in the development phases of these three exceptional titles.”
Star Wars eclipse: what we want to see
Better storytelling
It’s not so much a Star Wars problem as it is a Quantic Dream problem. If we’re being brutally honest, while developer games are usually a chaotic fun ride, they certainly leave a lot to be desired when it comes to deep, honest narrative.
Quantic Dream’s narratives are often quite difficult to execute, and sometimes leave ample scope for mature meme potential. After all, who could ever forget the legendary Ethan Mars “Jason!” (opens in a new tab) scream with Heavy rain?
We’re not saying that Quantic Dream is incapable of producing high-quality narrative. Absolutely not. But judging by Star Wars Eclipse trailer, we’re in for a much grimmer, potentially darker story than we’re used to from the series. Let’s hope that in cooperation with Lucasfilm Games, the developer will provide a story worth remembering.
Quality action
It’s safe to say that action games aren’t really Quantic Dream’s forte, but we’re more than happy to see the developer expand into other gameplay styles. Traditionally, most of the action-oriented segments in previous Quantic Dream games are dictated by fast-paced events and other scripted sequences.
Not necessarily please Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order quality level here. But we’d like to see at least a decently competent set of combat scenarios, abilities, and potentially learnable skills and upgrades.
